In partnership with Startup Folsom and Granite City Coworking, Startup Grind Sacramento hosted a workshop on how startups can extend your runway with tax incentives & credit presented by John Kapral. In this workshop, he showed how pre-revenue startups can get an R&D tax refund which is essentially a grant.

About John Kapral

John Kapral is the West Coast Regional Director for Tri-Merit Specialty Tax Consultants. He lives with his wife Jenny and kids in Folsom CA. John has focused on specialty tax incentives & credits since 2006, and is currently developing Tri-Merit’s renewable energy tax credits & incentives programs and service line, building on his 20 years of professional and personal interests in clean electrification and renewable energy. John also practiced as a corporate and tax attorney specializing in e-commerce businesses, and as a technology commercialization consultant to Los Alamos National Laboratory through the US Dep’t. of Energy. John is a CPA in CA and CO and has his LLM in Taxation from Boston University, JD from Villanova Law School, and BS in Accounting from Bentley University.
